Angelo has been in the automotive industry for well over 30 years. Angelo started working with his father at a very young age at his repair shop. His father owned a franchise repair shop in New York Known as KING BEAR. Angelo received a BS in Business Management from NORWICH University Military College of Vermont. He started in the industry at the bottom from sweeping floors to getting his ASE Master tech certificates to then running 8 of his father’s stores for 19 years. As two recessions hit as well as Hurricane Sandy the independent automotive industry took a nosedive. Angelo’s father decided to sell the Franchise stores that he owned to MAVIS. Angelo was then hired at Mavis in the acquisition as a Regional Manager running 12 stores. Angelo worked for MAVIS developing more skills and knowledge in the industry. As Angelo worked for MAVIS during the day, he was also a Volunteer Firefighter by night, for the Selden, NY Fire Dept, where he received the highest honor of Probation Member of the Year. In 2016 Angelo decided it was time to take control of his life and work for himself instead of working for others. Angelo pounded the pavement for a true opportunity for himself with a lot of slammed doors in his face. In 2017 he received a call from the owner of Smithwest Service Center asking Angelo if he was interested in either running or buying the business from him. In 2018 Angelo decided to purchase the business from the original owner. Smithwest Service Center has been a staple in Saint James, NY and surrounding towns since 1971.
Mike has been with Smithwest Service Center for five years. He met the owner Angelo at their local fire department where they both volunteered. Angelo was impressed by Mike’s hard work and dedication, so he offered him a tow truck driving position at his new business. Since then Mike has flourished in the automotive industry, working multiple positions to get him where he is today. Mike oversees the day to day operations of the shop by the careful guidance of Angelo.
Liliana has been with Smithwest Service Center for three years. She’s worked beside the owner, her father Angelo, learning the ins and outs of the automotive industry. Liliana is attending Stony Brook University to obtain her bachelor’s in Business Management. She is well known for her welcoming personality and going above and beyond for her customers.
Ryan started in the automotive industry at a young age at his family’s body shop. He would sweep up the shop and wash the customers’ cars after the repair was done. As he grew older he fell in love with the industry, he ended up going to school for auto body, and working on motorcycles, diesels, cars etc. He received all his certifications and has been at Smithwest Service Center since 2019 as a tow truck driver, and today he is a technician.
Kenny started in the automotive industry when he was 17 years old. He’s been repairing vehicles for over 34 years. He has a strong knowledge of the electrical and computer components of vehicles. He also specializes in heavy duty diesel engine repairs. Kenny takes pride in repairing vehicles the right way the first time. He is proud to be a team member at Smithwest Service Center auto repair since 2018.
